Union Bank Nigeria Plc. Is one of the oldest surviving banks in Nigeria. Like most other banks, they also offer personalized services to meet the demands of their customers: some of which include Mobile Banking, cashless transactions, and many more.
Due to the introduction of mobile banking into the Nigerian banking sector to help ease operations, Union bank customers may no longer have to show up at the bank whenever they have to perform basic bank transactions like money transfers, account balance inquiry, airtime recharge, and bill payments. Mobile banking has made such transactions possible from the comfort of their comfort zones, with no extra cost.
Mobile banking works in two major ways. Union bank customers who wish to check their account balances without going to the bank or queuing behind an ATM can do so in either of these ways:
- One, via the Union Bank mobile banking application. This can be done by first downloading the application from your mobile device’s application store (Google Playstore for Android devices, Apple Store for iOs devices, and Windows store for Windows-based devices). Once the file is downloaded and installed, get it configured and start using immediately. Services available on this method include account balance checking, transaction history, bill payments, money transfers, and airtime recharge.
- The second method is via the USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) portal. Each bank has their own unique portal through which their customers can dial and access the services available to them through their respective registered mobile phone numbers. The USSD portal is accessed by dialing a code. For Union bank, one first has to register for USSD banking by dialing *389*032# from your registered mobile phone number. You cannot access their mobile banking/USSD services by dialing this code from any random number. Your account is linked to the number you registered with the bank, and you can only access your account by dialing the USSD code from that particular registered number. To check your balance, dial the code and select the appropriate option, following the on-screen command.
- Alternatively, you can check your Union Bank account balance by sending an SMS ‘BAL’ to 20123.
